Davenport, in the grubby and diminutive Spider, ruled the hill-climbing roost throughout the 1920s, the early 30s and then in the 1950s - even beating Mays in his giant supercharged Vauxhall-Villiers and Caracciola in the Works Mercedes SSK.
Then the original Spider I was re-assembled and, with the always competitive Spider II, they both still frequently gain Best in Class today.
